Joan Boileau jcb1. I love YouTube. I learned that gently banging the back panel nearby the speakers with the base of my hand would restore the audio. Hi there wondering if you could help my Sony bravia has no sound with the hdmi from my explora and no picture at all with my ps4 but if I use a cable input it works perfect any suggestions?
Show 8 more comments. Here's some advice from Sony's troubleshooting website if you are having good picture but no sound:. I change the alternate audio option and it works, but if I change the channel and go back to the channel the setting to alternate audio changed automatically and there's no sound again.
I don't want to be changing the alternate option everytime I change the channel. Is there a way to save the settings without being change automatically by channel signal? January 17 by vmmldo. I had the same issue on my Bravia tv, the sound mute was on and there was no way to unmute or increase or decrease the volume.
I then followed the above proposed solution to restart the tv. I had to also restart 3 times before it working. The 2nd restart was into a safe mode and the last restart made it work. Thanks for the advise. January 19 by Wen Hong Ang. I did not find ANY guide that mentions this. Not in Settings, not in Audio or Inputs or Help section. Thank you so much. That just solved my sound issue on my Sony Bravia. It just started happening in the last 4 days. Order a new Joey from Dish thinking it was that. Restart under About section did the trick. This solved my sound issue on a friend's tv. Sound stopped working. Cable company spent two hours trying to fix and nothing worked.
Thank you so much for posting this solution.Michael Norton. The sound stopped working. It seems as if the TV no longer reads the remote as I have to turn it off manually. Michael Norton you want to make sure that all connectors are properly seated and that you check your audio settings, before any hardware issues are checked. Same problem, pausing or rewinding tv program and I lose sound from the tv speakers.
To get it back I have to disconnect power on the Viso sound bar and reconnect it. TV sound comes back. I have the same problem, when I change a channel no sound, I have to change to two or three different channels and the sound comes back on.
Will do this 5 or 6 times a day. My Vizio occasionally has no sound when I turn it on. I unplug and then plug it in again and it's back. As for the remote, it's goes through batteries like crazy. We seem to replace them every other month lately. It didn't used to be that way. Show 30 more comments. Michale Norton, first off start with what Vizio suggest on here:. Switch to a different input device and verify there is sound from the TV speakers for example, a DVD player or a gaming console.
If you have a Cable or Satellite box, confirm that the audio is turned up and not muted within that box.
Switch to a different input device and see if there is sound for example, a DVD player or a gaming console. Then attempt to play a DVD or game to determine if the speakers produce sound. Since that does not change anything, follow that attached flow sheet.
I've found that the audio IC in most TV is of inferior quality and has a tendency to fail. It is possible that due to a failed IR board your Television just does not receive signal for the volume up. Thanks for the quick response. After working through the suggestions, I still have a clear picture with no sound. My remote does not 'speak' to the TV either.
Curious if the two problems are connected. I have exactly the same issue, requires shutting off the power surge protector and then it seems to work, a few times just changing input worked but not usually. Really annoying considering the price of these things. Also had issues with the casting, gave me an error that said sorry we lost our focus.

Kelly Bybee kellbeebee. I was having the same issue with the sound on my Vizio TV and nothing I tried worked, until I accidentally unplugged my Cable box. Any ideas on how to fix this? Carrie, congratulations on your purchase. Above is an Amazon link. A slightly loose HDMI connection could interfere with either the audio or video. That could still interrupt the audio and video on your Roku program. You never know. Finally, after trying all those little things, re-set the TV by unplugging it from the wall. Also unplug and disconnect any other devices connected to the TV.
After 20 seconds or so, plug everything back in. You would be amazed at how often this simple step resolves what seems to be the most perplexing TV issue.

Sound coming from Laptop and not TV when connected to HDMI
Disconnect it from AC power, then press and hold the power button on the TV, and not the remote, for 10 seconds. After another minute, plug the set back in and press power once. Then try the other sound out from your TV to a set of speakers etc. If that works, you know that your internal speakers are not working. If it does, it is most likely that the audio IC that drives the internal speakers has failed. It is common in these sets as they use inexpensive low powered amplifier IC's that heat up and fail.
The IC itself is LV and the mainboard is available at places like this. Hope this helps, good luck. Show 50 more comments.
